NEW YORK, NY - Alabama running back Mark Ingram is in New York this weekend for the 75th annual Heisman Trophy Dinner. Ingram is one of five finalist for the coveted award which will be announced live from the Nokia Theatre in Times Square Saturday, December 12th a 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
The sophomore powered through SEC defenses all season to be the top rusher in the league. This season he rushed for a school record 1,542 yards on 249 attempts with 15 touchdowns including three in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game, leading Alabama to its 22nd league title.
Ingram is the first Crimson Tide player to be invited to New York since quarterback Jay Barker attended in 1994. The previous year wide receiver David Palmer finished third in the voting, which is Alabama's highest showing in the Heisman race.
