Tide Football Team Receives More Honors

The honors and awards keep trickling in for The University of Alabama football team. has announced that senior offensive linemen Wesley Britt and Evan Mathis have been named to the All-SEC team along with senior kicker Brian Bostick and sophomore Tyrone Prothro, who was named the All-SEC kick returner.

Wallace Gilberry was another recipient this week being named to the Freshman All-America team as well the Freshman All-SEC team as voted on by league coaches.

Gilberry finished the regular season ranked sixth in the conference in sacks (6.5) and tied for third in fumbles recovered (2).

Heading into the Tide's bowl game against Minnesota, Britt has recorded 63 knockdown blocks and graded 92 percent or better in six of the 11 games he played in this season.

Mathis (6-5, 296) moved from right tackle to left guard for his senior season. He has started 46 consecutive games for the Tide.  He led the team with 75 knockdown blocks and played over 600 snaps.  Along with Britt he helped Alabama rank second in the SEC and 21st nationally in rushing with an average of 200 yards per game.

Bostick (5-11, 213) led Alabama in scoring with 81 points. He made 16 of 19 field-goal attempts and hit all 33 of extra-point tries.  He ranked second in the SEC in scoring with an average of 7.4 points per game.

Behind Prothro, Alabama led the conference and was third nationally in kickoff return average as he averaged 29.1 yards per kickoff on just 13 returns, including a 100-yard return for a touchdown against Kentucky.
