Alabama Places Two on SEC All-Freshman Football Team
Dec. 8, 2011
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Cyrus Kouandjio and Vinnie Sunseri were named to the Southeastern Conference Coaches' All-Freshman Team, which the league announced on Thursday. Kouandjio, a native of Hyattsville, Md., appeared in eight games throughout 2011 before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the second half of the Tennessee game. Playing primarily at left tackle, he helped the Crimson Tide to a No. 15 national ranking in rushing with 219.83 yards per game, a number that puts Alabama first in the SEC. Sunseri has been an integral part of the Tide's special teams this season and is developing a role on the Tide defense as a safety in passing situations. The Tuscaloosa, Ala., native is second on the team with 11 special teams tackles, all coming on kickoff coverage. Sunseri has 31 total tackles to rank eighth on the team and also plays on the punt return team, where he has recorded several attention-grabbing blocks. FRESHMAN ALL-SEC DEFENSE SPECIAL TEAMS
