McCarron a Maxwell and O'Brien Finalist; Mosley Finalist for Bednarik and Butkus

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama's senior duo of quarterback AJ McCarron and linebacker C.J. Mosley continue to see the honors pour in with numerous awards announcing its list of finalists on Monday.

McCarron has been selected as a finalist for the Maxwell Award and the Davey O'Brien Award. The Maxwell recognizes the Collegiate Player of the Year while the O'Brien is presented to the nation's best college quarterback.

Mosley is a finalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award and the Butkus Award. The Bednarik honors the outstanding defensive player of the year while the Butkus identifies the top linebacker.

McCarron, form Mobile, Ala., has quarterbacked as many national championships (2) as career losses with a 36-2 record as Alabama's signal-caller, which ranks him as the winningest quarterback (.947) in SEC history and the fourth-winningest QB among AQ teams in NCAA history. McCarron has seven career victories against top 10 teams and 12 versus top 25 squads.

He is completing 68.6 percent of his passes (190-277) this year for 2,399 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions while ranking ninth national in completion percentage (.686) and 10th in passing efficiency (165.13). McCarron is also a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Aram Award and the Senior CLASS Award as well as a semifinalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year.

Mosley, from Mobile, Ala., is the leader of the Crimson Tide's vaunted defense that leads the nation in scoring defense (9.3 ppg), is second in first downs defense (148), second in redzone defense (.600), third in total defense (263.9 ypg), fifth in rushing defense (91.3 ypg), seventh in pass yards allowed (172.6 ypg) & 11th in pass efficiency defense (107.3).

Mosley leads the team with 88 tackles while recording 9.0 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, a forced fumble and a team-high eight quarterback hurries. He was the SEC Defensive Player of the Week for two straight weeks (LSU and MSU) and is a 10-time Alabama Defensive Player of the Week. Mosley is also a finalist for the Butkus Award, Lombardi Award, Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy, as well as a semifinalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year and Lott IMPACT Trophy.
