ALABAMA POST-GAME QUOTES
CRIMSON TIDE AT AUBURN TIGERS
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2007
JORDAN-HARE STADIUM ?? AUBURN, ALA.

HEAD COACH NICK SABAN

“I thought we played a little uptight and anxious, and we dug a 10-point hole for ourselves.  Finally, when we settled down we started playing pretty well.  I’m very proud of the way the guys competed in the game.  We just couldn’t convert any opportunities.  We’ve got to give Auburn’s players a lot of credit. They played well in the game and the defense was pretty good.  They ran the ball effectively and we couldn’t get it stopped.  We didn’t stop them all the times we needed to.  We made the errors in the fourth quarter.  That was the difference in the game.  The punt was not a good punt; they got a good return and made some good field position on it.  We had a penalty (on the roughing the passer) on a play that would have been a third down-and-12 situation, and they were able to get a field goal out of it.  We would have been able to keep it a one-score game, but they were able to convert a field goal.”

“We had a great opportunity with the on-side kick, but didn’t get a very good kick.  We just didn’t make the plays down the road that we needed to make.  Obviously, the most disappointing thing about the season is that we did not finish.  There are a lot of lessons to be learned for our football team and our football players about finishing.  I’m proud of the way these guys worked.  We made a lot of progress as a team.  When we had the first offseason program I didn’t know how many games we’d win with the players we had.  We worked hard, we got bigger and we got stronger.  We were a pretty good football team through the first eight games. But the last four games, we didn’t finish the way we wanted to finish; the way we’d like to finish.  And I know there’s nobody more disappointed than the players.”

LINEBACKER DARREN MUSTIN

“We played hard, just had a few penalties at the end.  It’s hard to swallow this loss when you start the year off so good, and not finish.  I just have to talk to these underclassmen because I’m done and have no more left. Who knows what the future holds for me?  I just hope these underclassmen learn from this year and finish, because we didn’t finish this year.”

RUNNING BACK GLEN COFFEE

“I felt we played hard. But playing hard, sometimes, is not enough.  We just didn’t make enough plays today.  This team has been through a lot.  The only thing we can do is prepare for next year.”
