TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama tight end Colin Peek and offensive lineman Barrett Jones were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Team, the organization announced on Thursday.
Peek sports a 3.79 grade point average in finance and is set to graduate in December. The senior has started all eight games this season and has 19 catches for 213 yards (11.2 yards per catch) and one touchdown. He is also an outstanding blocker and has paved the way for Mark Ingram’s SEC-leading 125.5 rushing yards per game this season.
He was a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2006, 2007 and 2008 at Georgia Tech. Once Peek transferred to Alabama, he was honored on Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2009. He was named to the ACC’s All-Academic Football team at tight end in 2008 and is a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda and Golden Key. Peek was also honored with the Outstanding Undergraduate Award in Finance and named to the Dean’s List at Georgia Tech (2006, 2007 and 2008) and Alabama (2009).
Jones boasts a 4.0 grade point average in management. He has started all eight games for the Crimson Tide this season at right guard. Jones is one of three first-year starters on the offensive line. He has been an integral part of the Tide’s rushing success this season with the Crimson Tide averaging 217.7 rushing yards per game to rank 13th nationally and has the league’s top rusher this season in Ingram. The Tide’s offensive line also ranks 12th nationally in fewest sacks allowed (1.00) per game.
He was a member of the 2009 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll and has been selected to the President’s List in 2008 and 2009 with a 4.0 grade point average. Jones is also a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta, Golden Key Sigma Alpha Lambda and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
