Tuesday, October 25, 2005

Undefeated Alabama (7-0) remained fifth in this week's Bowl Championship Series (BCS) standings which were released Monday.  The Tide was also 5th in the initial rankings which were released on Oct. 17.

Texas moved into first place in the latest rankings, jumping ahead of last week's leader, Southern California.  Virginia Tech was third, Georgia fourth and Alabama fifth.

Rounding out the top-ten were, in order, UCLA, Miami, LSU, Penn State and Florida State.

Other SEC schools in the Top 25 were Florida (19) and Auburn (22).

The BCS average is calculated by averaging the percent totals of the Harris Interactive and USA Today Polls and the Computer rankings.  The highest BCS Average receives the No. 1 ranking, the second highest is No. 2 and so forth.

The BCS National Championship Game will be held Jan. 4, 2006 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
