TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
The No. 2/3 Alabama football team held a two-hour practice on Tuesday at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields as it continued preparing for this week's matchup against Vanderbilt. The Crimson Tide and Commodores are slated to kickoff Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium at 6 p.m. CT.
"We want to get better every week," said junior defensive back Robert Lester. "If there is something we struggled on, we want to make sure that is something we accomplish the next week. We never want anything we are doing well to start slacking off. We just keep looking for ways to get better."
Saturday's game will be the first meeting in the series since 2007 and 83rd meeting overall. The game will air on ESPNU with Clay Matvick serving as the play-by-play announcer and Brian Griese at his side as the color analyst. The two will be joined by sideline reporter Allison Williams.
Following the Tide's 38-10 win at Florida, Alabama was once again selected to dawn the cover of Sports Illustrated. The regional cover, featuring senior defensive lineman Josh Chapman, marks the third time in six months the Crimson tide has made the SI cover and 12th time since head coach Nick Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa in January of 2007.
"I appreciate the people at Sports Illustrated selecting that photo for the cover," said Chapman. "We've had quite a few SI covers here at Alabama, and it has become kind of a tradition. I'm sure down the road a few years I'll walk down the hall with all the framed covers and appreciate it even more. The main thing everybody needs to realize is that anytime we are recognized in the media, that it is really a credit to the entire team and our coaches, everyone here involved with the football program."
