T.J. Yeldon gave Alabama's running game the boost it was looking for on Saturday in a 25-0 shutout of No. 21 Ole Miss inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The sophomore from Daphne, Ala., rushed for 121 yards on 17 carries with one touchdown as the Crimson Tide accumulated a season-high 254 yards on the ground. Yeldon also broke free for a career long 68-yard touchdown run on the first possession of the third quarter. He averaged a season-best 7.1 yards per carry and set another season high with three receptions for 16 yards.
The running back, who is coming off of a freshman season that saw him rush for an Alabama freshman record 1,108 yards and 12 touchdowns, is on the watch list for Maxwell Award, the Doak Walker Award and the Walter Camp Award.
Yeldon ranks 28th nationally and fifth in the Southeastern Conference with 98.5 rushing yards per game. He has accounted for three rushing touchdowns and 394 yards on the ground while averaging 6.0 yards per carry. Yeldon has also caught five passes for 29 yards.
