Senior end Richard Williamson hauled in a 52-yard pass from Namath with 11:46 left in the first quarter to give the Tide a 7-0 lead over Georgia on Sept. 22, 1962 at Legion Field. It was Namath’s first career start at Alabama.

Alabama and Georgia played at Birmingham Municipal Stadium (now Legion Field) on Nov. 24, 1927.  The game was played on Thanksgiving Day.

What was the total number of combined rushing yards for Alabama’s Shaun Alexander and Georgia’s Herschel Walker in the Alabama-Georgia rivalry?

The answer is zero.  Alabama and Georgia never met one another during the time Alexander and Walker played for each school. Alexander played at Alabama from 1996-99, while Walker played at Georgia from 1980-82. The two combined for 8,824 career yards and 90 touchdowns. Alexander (3,565 yards and 41 TDs) is Alabama’s all-time rushing leader, while Walker (5,259 yards, 49 TDs) is the Bulldogs all-time rushing king.

Paul Ott Carruth rushed for 100 yards against Georgia on Oct. 6, 1984 at Legion Field.
