Sunday Rewind: Alabama 49, Arkansas 14

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama (4-0, 1-0 SEC) rushed for 328 yards Saturday against Arkansas, scoring four touchdowns on the ground and forcing four Razorback turnovers in a dominating 49-14 Southeastern Conference opener at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

It was the most points scored by Alabama in an SEC game since the Crimson Tide beat Vanderbilt 59-28 in 1990. Alabama led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter and 35-7 at the half. Alabama has now outscored its opponents 64-0 in the first quarter this season.

By The Numbers: A look at some the notable numbers from Saturday’s win over Arkansas.

10 - The total number of interceptions and pass deflections by the Alabama defense in the win over Arkansas. The Crimson Tide had four interceptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns and added six pass break-ups in the win.

16.2 -The average yards per rushing attempt for Alabama junior running back Glen Coffee in the win over Arkansas. Coffee had 10 rushing attempts for 162 yards and two touchdowns, including an 87-yard run in the first quarter that staked the Tide to a 14-0 lead. Coffee’s 16.2-yards per carry average set an Alabama single-game record for running back with a minimum of 10 rushing attempts. 17 The number of consecutive SEC openers won by Alabama, the longest active streak in the league. The Crimson Tide has not lost an SEC opener since the 1991 season.

49 - The number of yards Alabama’s scoring plays averaged in its SEC opening win over Arkansas. The Crimson Tide was full of big plays on Saturday, recording four scoring plays of 60 or more yards. The list includes an 87-yard TD run by Glen Coffee, 64-yard interception return by Javier Arenas, 74-yard interception return by Justin Woodall and a 62-yard run by Roy Upchurch.

90 - The total number of points scored by Alabama in the last two weeks, beating Western Kentucky 41-7 and Arkansas 49-14. The 90 points are the most scored by the Tide in back-to-back games since posting 92 points against South Carolina (36-37) and UTEP (56-7) during the 2001 season.

131- The number of interception return yards on four interceptions by Alabama this Saturday. Javier Arenas had a 64-yard interception return for a touchdown and Justin Woodall added a 74-interception return. The 131 return yards fell 10 yards shy of the UA single-game record of 141 interception return yards set against Tennessee in 1951.
