TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
The football team continued work on its game plan for North Texas on Tuesday afternoon as the Crimson Tide practiced for two hours at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields. Alabama will take on the Mean Green on Saturday, September 17, at 6:38 p.m. CT in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
"Physically we have improved a good bit," said senior center William Vlachos. "We still have a ways to go. Coach Saban made a point to us that all good teams are going to show a lot of improvement between week one and week two, and we did that. We certainly have a long ways to go, but if we keep practicing and staying on task, we will get there."
The Tide will look to continue its stellar play at home as Alabama has compiled a record of 21-1 in Bryant-Denny Stadium since the start of the 2008 season. During that stretch, the Tide defense has surrendered just two rushing touchdowns, while the offense has produced 49 touchdowns on the ground. In addition, Alabama has averaged 181.4 yards of total offense more than its opponent and has outscored its opponents by 24.6 points per game.
"Today was a tough practice," added Vlachos. "We got a lot of reps. North Texas is going to go sideways and blitz a lot, so we are trying to focus in on that and make sure that we execute what we are able to do in this game."
Saturday's game will air on Fox Sports South. Bob Rathbun will serve as the play-by-play announcer, with Tim Couch at his side as the color analyst. The two will be joined by sideline reporter Kristina Akra.
