TUSCALOOSA, Ala. --- The Alabama Crimson Tide went through a two and one-half hour workout Wednesday afternoon in preparation for Saturday's game with North Texas.  Kickoff for that game will be 6 p.m.

"We had a good practice today," said Tide coach Dennis Franchione.  "The way things have gone, Tuesday is a grueling practice day and during Wednesday's practice, we get a little life back and that's good.

"I'm not sure we were able to do that this time last year," he added.

In trying to put last week's loss to Oklahoma to rest, Franchione told his team that they need to "be appreciative of the support and comments from our fans, but we need to put that game behind us.

"North Texas is a good, solid defensive team and they will play a patient and deliberate game.  Our players respect North Texas.  This is a team that returns 20 starters from a bowl team last year.  They are the kind of team that can jump up and bite you."

Tide fans are reminded that tickets remain for this weekend's football game.  Priced at $30 each, tickets may be purchased at the Coleman Coliseum Ticket Office; by calling 1-800-240-2300, or over the internet at www.rolltide.com.

Starting at noon Saturday, tickets will also be available at Bryant-Denny Stadium at ticket windows in the East Tower between gates 36 and 37.

In addition, tickets are also available for the Southern Miss game ($30) on Sept. 21 in Tuscaloosa and the Vanderbilt game ($40) in Nashville on Nov. 2.

All gates will open at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Tide fans are reminded that in the interest of fan safety, the following items will not be allowed in Bryant-Denny Stadium: oversized bags (anything over 8.5 x 11); backpacks; cameras; camera cases; video recorders; coolers or food containers; umbrellas or artificial noisemakers.
