TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama football team concluded its on-field preparation for Saturday’s home opener with Florida International with a 90-minute practice in shells at the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility on Thursday afternoon.

“We’re certainly focused on improving,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said during the SEC head coaches teleconference this week.  “It’s always been said you make the most improvement from the first week to the second week.  We’ve had quite a few guys fighting the flu and that’s made it a little more difficult for us to get any continuity, but I think that’s something we’re all going to have to fight through and maybe for this entire season.

“We are playing a team that certainly has some fire power on offense.  They play hard and they’ve made improvement in their program each and every year.  We have to respect who are we playing, but also be focused on the things that we need to do to improve and eliminate some of the mental errors that could have been very costly in our last game.”

Alabama and FIU will kick off shortly after 6 p.m. (CST) this Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. The game will be televised on a pay-per-view basis in Alabama and Florida on the Crimson Tide Sports Network.  The game can also be seen outside of Alabama and Florida on ESPN GamePlan and ESPN360.com.
