By The Numbers: A look at some the notable numbers from Saturday's win over Tulane. 2 The number of touchdowns scored by the Alabama special teams in its 20-6 win over Tulane.
2 - Junior punt return specialist Javier Arenas gave the Tide a 7-0 lead with an 87-yard punt return in the first quarter. It was his fourth career punt return for the touchdown, tying David Palmer's school record. Juniors Roy Upchurch and Chris Rogers combined for a 23-yard punt block and return for a touchdown to the Tide a 13-0 lead in the first quarter,
9 - The total number of points allowed by the Alabama defense in wins over Clemson and Tulane. The defense has not allowed a touchdown in the first two games of the season and held the Tigers and Green Wave to three field goals in the first eight quarters.
18 - The number of wins by SEC teams after two weeks of the college football season. The SEC has compiled an 18-4 (.818) record during the first two weekends and boasts eight undefeated teams, including Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU and Vanderbilt.
25 - Total number of tackles by Alabama linebackers Rolando McClain and Dont'a Hightower against Tulane. McClain had 15 total stops, including nine solos, to match his career high. He also 15 tackles last year at Auburn. Hightower was UA's second-leading tackler with a career-high 10 tackles.
211 - The number of all-purpose yards by Arenas in the win over Tulane. The Tampa, Fla., native had five punt returns for 147 yards, including an 87-yard TD in the first quarter. He also added two kickoff returns for 65 yards. The 211 all-purpose yards ranks as the second highest total by Arenas in his UA career. He has 237 yards last season against LSU. The 211 yards also rank as the seventh highest total in SEC history for total kick return yards.
