The University of Alabama football team continued its game week preparation for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles with a two-hours workout in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts Wednesday afternoon.
"We have had two good practices yesterday and today," Alabama head coach Mike Shula said. "Our guys are moving around pretty well. Hopefully we will finish up with a third good practice tomorrow. We will work on move the ball stuff tomorrow."
Sophomore defensive end Wallace Gilberry and senior middle linebacker Freddie Roach both returned to practice on Wednesday and their status for Saturday's game has been upgraded.
"Injury-wise, Wallace Gilberry was back and he looks like he is ready to go. (Senior linebacker) Freddie Roach was back. We are still going to evaluate (senior right guard) Mark Sanders and (junior linebacker) Terrence Jones. Those guys are pretty much day-to-day. Hopefully they will be ready by this weekend."
If Sanders can not play, freshman Marlon Davis will be the starter at right guard. His backup could be redshirt freshman B.J. Stabler, who has practiced the last two days after returning from an injury.
Alabama will host Southern Miss this Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will be televised to a national cable audience by espn2 with kickoff set for 6:52 p.m. (CT).
