TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The football team practiced for 75 minutes Thursday afternoon in shorts and helmets inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility as the Crimson Tide held its final practice leading up to Saturday's showdown with West Virginia. The season opener in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff game against the Mountaineers is slated for Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Kickoff is set for a 2:36 p.m. (CDT) on ABC/ESPN2.
Alabama is making its 11th appearance in a dome stadium since the arrival of head coach Nick Saban. The Crimson Tide is 7-3 in the past 10 games since the Chick-fil-A Kickoff game to open the 2008 season. The Tide is 6-1 in its last seven games in a dome.
The Crimson Tide has a 95-21-3 record all time in season openers, and is in the midst of a 12-game winning streak. Dating back to 1977, Alabama is 33-4 in season openers with a 7-0 record during the tenure of Coach Saban.
Alabama will hold a walk-through on campus Friday before departing for Atlanta tomorrow afternoon.
