TUSCALOOSA, Ala. --- The University of Alabama's football practice was forced into the Hank Crisp Indoor facility Wednesday afternoon when lightening interrupted the later part of practice. But that didn't stop the Tide's preparations for this weekend's season opener against Middle Tennessee.
"I think they (the players) are really ready to play a game," said Tide coach Dennis Franchione "We worked today to fine-tune some of our game situations. The players have some spring in their legs and I think they are right on track."
Franchione also announced that sophomore Michael Ziifle would be the starting kicker for Saturday's game against Middle Tennessee at Legion Field. Kickoff for that game is set for 11:35 a.m. as the game will be televised by SEC syndicator Jefferson-Pilot.
* The Tide will practice in Tuscaloosa Friday afternoon, then bus to Legion Field for a brief walk-thru that will be closed to the public.
* The Alabama team will occupy the west sideline for its game at Legion Field, but will move back to the east sideline for games at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
* Approximately 100 players will dress for Saturday's game.
