TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Crimson Tide football team went through a shortened practice Friday afternoon as the team prepared for this weekend's "mock game".

"We want the new players to see what a game weekend is all about," Tide coach Dennis Franchione said.  "We will make sure that nothing happens in a game that we have not covered in a practice.  We hope to be singing the fight song Saturday afternoon, meaning we won the mock game."

Franchione released a depth chart on Friday, but cautioned "that it could change before next Saturday.  This is a starting point and I'm not saying things couldn't change."

The only newcomers to break into the two-deep were true freshmen Greg McLain at W-back and DeMeco Ryans at strong linebacker.  Junior college transfers Zach Fletcher at wide receiver, Ahmad Childress at defensive tackle and Derrick Pope at middle linebacker also made the two-deep.  None were list as starters.

Michael Ziifle, Mike McLaughlin and Brian Bostick were listed as the placekickers.

The Alabama team will practice Saturday and Sunday and take Monday off as they head into game-week for the Middle Tennessee game on Aug. 31.  That game is set to kickoff at 11:37 a.m. and will be televised by Jefferson-Pilot.
