TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama football team practiced for two hours in full pads inside the Hank Crisp Practice Facility, Thursday afternoon. The Crimson Tide is just two practices away from entering game week.
"This is the day that is really the last day for us in camp from a coaching standpoint," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. "I know from a player standpoint, as soon as they move out of the dorms, that is kind of the end of camp for them, but for us as coaches, this is the end of camp."
The practice marked the 22nd for Alabama this preseason as the Crimson Tide will meet one more time on Friday and Saturday before getting a much deserved day off on Sunday. Alabama will begin its first game week of the season on Monday.
"Tomorrow we will start preparation for our first game and start out like we do on a Monday and progress through the week and try and get a little more down time and shorter practices," Saban said. "When we get closer to the game, we try to get the kind of recovery that we feel like we need."
Alabama only has seven more practices before it hosts Kent State on Saturday, Sept. 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:21 a.m., at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with the contest set to air on the SEC Network.
