TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football held a 117-play scrimmage Saturday at Thomas-Drew fields in Tuscaloosa.

"It actually went a little longer than what we thought," Alabama head coach Mike Shula said.  "We had some two-minute drives we didn't have in the first scrimmage and some situation scrimmages that took longer."

Starting quarterback Brodie Croyle completed 19-of-30 passes for 298 yards and five touchdowns on the day.  Brandon Greer was the leading receiver with four catches for 99 yards on the day.

"We wanted to find out more about depth at the receiver position today and we completed more passes than last time," Shula said.

On defense, Shula said Derrick Pope had another good day, along with the defensive secondary.  The Tide's third scrimmage will take place Tuesday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, weather permitting.
