TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama football team conducted two practices Sunday at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields, the first day of two-a-day practices of the 2006 preseason.

"Overall, it was a pretty good day," Alabama head coach Mike Shula said.  "We're a little bit nicked up in some areas, nothing serious, and we had our ups and downs today. Overall, though, I thought it was pretty productive. We're doing a lot of installation on both sides of the ball right now, so the mental part of things is the major aspect at this point, and I think we've responded pretty well."

Sunday's practices began with a morning session that started at 8:30 a.m. and ended close to 11 a.m... The afternoon practice began at approximately 3:30 p.m. and closed down at 5:30 p.m.

The Crimson Tide will hold its first scrimmage of the 2006 preseason on Monday, Aug. 14, at Bryant-Denny Stadium.  The scrimmage will be open to the general public and is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
