TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The football team held its second two-a-day practice of camp on Friday with a 9:30 a.m. workout in full pads at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields. The Crimson Tide will return at 7:30 p.m. for its second session of the day.

Saturday's practice, the 11th of fall camp, will mark Alabama's first scrimmage. The Tide is slated for a two-hour workout inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday that is closed to the public.

"In this first scrimmage, especially with the young players, we are going to be evaluating who the football players are," said Alabama head coach Nick Saban. "Who can go out there and react and make plays. They may not know exactly what they're supposed to do, but they are good tacklers on defense, they're good runners on offense, they're good receivers and they're good blockers. Those are going to be the right guys for us to coach."

With the departure of NFL first round draft pick Trent Richardson, junior Eddie Lacy will be looked upon as one of the Tide's top options at running back. Lacy, who averaged 7.1 yards per carry and added seven touchdowns in 2011, is joined by fellow junior Jalston Fowler, redshirt freshman Dee Hart and true freshman T.J. Yeldon.

"Fall camp has been going great," said Lacy. "I am finally out there participating with the rest of my teammates (after coming back from injury), and it has gone well. It is a lot of pressure to follow up (Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson), but I am trying not to focus on them, and instead focus on my game, and what I was recruited to do."

Alabama is now 22 days away from its 2012 season opener as the Crimson Tide is slated to face the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, September 1 at 7 p.m. CT. The game will take place at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and will be broadcast on ABC.
