TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama junior defensive end Antwan Odom is among five SEC players and 29 players nationally who are on the 2003 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year watch list.
Odom, a 6-5, 280-pounder from Bayou LaBatre, Ala., led the Tide in sacks last year with 10 for 72 yards. He also had four stops behind the line for 12 yards and 11 quarterback pressures.
For his career, Odom has 13 sacks, seven stops behind the line and 16 quarterback pressures
During its inaugural year in 2002, the award was presented to Terrell Suggs of Arizona State University. Suggs was a first-round draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens.
On-field performance, leadership abilities and contributions to school and community are some of the criteria that will be used to determine the award's winner. The candidates may represent any class (freshman through senior) as well as any recognized four-year NCAA accredited school (Division I through Division III) The candidates' primary position must be defensive end.
