TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football team practiced in full pads for only the second time this spring, holding a 26-period, two and a half hour workout Thursday afternoon in Tuscaloosa.
"Between now and last spring, there is no comparison," said head coach Dennis Franchione on the offensive line. "They know the offense a lot better than they did last year. They've kind of taken off from where they were the last month of the season.
Franchione also talked about running back Santonio Beard and his blocking ability.
"He is progressing. I want him to go farther, but he is doing much better. He's improved a lot. He's also caught the ball better coming out of the backfield, and that's just focus. But Santonio is much, much better."
The Tide will have an off day tomorrow before they hold their first scrimmage of the spring Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
