TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ---   The Crimson Tide football team returned to the practice fields Wednesday afternoon, a session that included several periods of scrimmage situations.

"I was a little disappointed in the scrimmage time," said Tide coach Dennis Franchione, "we just played to soft. We need to get back and play more physical and that's what I told the team.

"The intensity was just not there.  I was not completely disappointed with the practice, just the scrimmage aspect of it," he added.

Franchione said he was "encouraged" by the progress of the three players who switched positions in Tuesday's practice.  "I was encouraged by what they have done, they just need more time."

The Tide will practice again Thursday and then scrimmage Saturday at 2 pm in Bryant-Denny Stadium.  That will leave just two practices, Tuesday and Thursday of next week before the A-Day game.  Kickoff will be at 2:30 pm.
