Tide will complete spring work with A-Day Game on SaturdayThursday, April 11, 2002
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. --- The Alabama Crimson Tide football team finished its final work on the practice fields Thursday afternoon, the 14th practice of the spring. The shortened session was spent inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Building.
The Tide's 15th and final spring session will be Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in Bryant-Denny Stadium in the annual A-Day game.
"I think overall we've had a good spring," Tide coach Dennis Franchione said, "and with the exception of a couple of practices, we have gotten a lot done. Today's practice was pretty good, a lot better than we would have had in here last year."
Franchione was referring to the new AstroPlay turf that was recently installed in the indoor building, the same surface on which the Tide played in December's Independence Bowl.
"We haven't had a chance to work on that turf and I didn't want to go into fall practices not having been on the surface," Franchione added.
