NEW YORK - The University of Alabama football team had its fourth player selected in the 2013 National Football League Draft on Friday evening at Radio City Music Hall with running back Eddie Lacy going to the Green Bay Packers in the second round.

Lacy, a native of Gretna, La., who played at Dutchtown High School (Geismar, La.), came off the board at No. 61 overall. Lacy will give the Packers' running game a boost while also provided excellent protection for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The selection of Lacy marks the ninth Alabama player selected in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft in the past two years. The Crimson Tide had a run of three straight players selected in the first round on Thursday evening with Dee Milliner going to the Jets at No. 9, Chance Warmack to the Titans at No. 10 and D.J. Fluker to the Chargers at No. 11.

Lacy was the Offensive MVP of the 2013 Discover BCS National Championships Game. He is the fourth Alabama player to be selected in the second round during head coach Nick Saban's tenure in Tuscaloosa. Lacy led the Crimson Tide with 1,322 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns in 2012 while catching 22 passes for 189 yards and two more scores. He is also the first Alabama player selected by Green Bay since quarterback Jay Barker was taken in the fifth round in 1995.

In the past five NFL Drafts, Alabama has had 22 players selected in the first three rounds. That includes 14 players in the first round, four in the second round and four in the third round. In those five drafts during the Saban era, a total of 28 players have been draft so far.

The NFL Draft concludes on Saturday from Radio City Music hall in New York City with rounds 4-7.
