TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama football team went back to work Monday afternoon in full pads, finishing the ninth practice of 15 spring practices. The team practiced indoors due to inclement weather in the Tuscaloosa area.

“Spring practice is going really well,” senior wide receiver Brandon Gibson said. “I am just trying to get better every day and take full advantage of the things Coach Saban tries to teach us. I am just playing my role right now.”

Following the first scrimmage Saturday, the players had a chance Monday to take a look at the film with the coaching staff.

“I thought the scrimmage was pretty good,” junior linebacker Dont’a Hightower said. “I felt like the offense had a really good day. The defense also looked pretty good. We did not make as many mistakes as we had to this point last year. Today, we came in and looked at the film to see what we had to do, and we came out at a better tempo and a better mindset.”

Hightower also noted that he liked the feel of practicing in Bryant-Denny Stadium as the Crimson Tide did Saturday for the scrimmage.

“It felt good,” Hightower said. “I feel like whenever we get a chance to practice in Bryant-Denny Stadium, it gives us a better idea of what the game is going to be like. Even though nobody is in the stadium, you can still feel the energy.”

The passing game clicked in the first scrimmage as quarterbacks A.J. McCarron and Phillip Sims combined for six touchdown passes and 414 yards. Gibson was one of five wide receivers to record three or more catches on the day.

“I think the scrimmage went well,” Gibson said. “We definitely made some mistakes that we can work on. As far as the wide receiver group goes, I think we competed well. We try to compete with each other every day and get each other better. We are all a team right now, so we are not worried about a depth chart.”

The Crimson Tide will return to the practice field Wednesday afternoon.
