TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
The Alabama football team continued spring drills with a two-hour workout in full pads at the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility Saturday. Saturday also marked the final day of the UA Coaching Clinic as many of the participants heard from Alabama coaches as well as Jason Garrett of the Dallas Cowboys prior to practice. Friday's speakers included Ozzie Newsome, Derek Dooley and Stan Hixon during the day followed by keynote speaker Tom Osborne who gave the evening speech.
The Crimson Tide will practice again Monday afternoon and the first scrimmage of the spring is set for Wednesday.
"We have made some progress in the last couple practices," said head coach Nick Saban. "We are certainly not where we need to be. We have a lot of stuff to clean up and a lot to get better at but that is why we have all these practices and we are looking forward to it."
Saban also commented on the hiring of Anthony Grant as the new men's basketball coach and the importance of having success across the board in athletics and academics at the University of Alabama.
"I'm very excited and pleased that Anthony Grant is going to join the University of Alabama as the basketball coach," said Saban. "I was extremely impressed with he and his wife both when they were here. I think it is very important that we support each other in what we do. We certainly want to support the basketball program in every way that we can and we are excited to develop a relationship with our new basketball coach."
