TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - With a 100 play scrimmage scheduled for Saturday morning, the Alabama football team had an upbeat and relatively short workout on Friday, completing its seventh of 15 practice dates for the spring.

"I think we improved with this practice," Alabama head coach Mike Price said.  "We practiced better and we looked better than we did on Monday.  We just need a little improvement every day to do what we want to do.  Pretty soon that will add up to a lot."

Price said he saw much better performance from his wide receivers during Friday's workout.  "Our receivers in particular have improved.  They're catching the ball better."

Price also said the defense played better today, surrounding the ball and not allowing any big holes to develop.

"The practice today wasn't long because practice tomorrow will be really long.  We'll have a 100-play scrimmage tomorrow."  Price said that he would take a long look at the kicking game tomorrow also, both place-kicking and punting.

Saturdays practice will begin at approximately 10 a.m.
