TUSCALOOSA, Ala. --- Alabama head football coach Mike Shula took his Crimson Tide football team through a two-hour practice in chilly temperatures late Friday afternoon to conclude practice No. 5 of spring training.
"I thought we had a good practice today," Shula said. "We went in shorts and shoulder pads because we are going to do a little more tackling tomorrow. We'll have a normal practice in full gear, but towards the end, we will do some live tackling.
"We had real good energy today our seniors are doing a good job of showing a lot of leadership."
Saturday's practice will begin at 2 p.m. and the session "will be real important to find out about these young guys on defense. They are doing a lot of good things now, but when you put the ball down and take everybody else off the field is when you find out about who can play."
Alabama will continue spring practice next week, hitting the field on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The Tide will host the annual Alabama high school coaches clinic on Thursday thru Saturday.
