The University of Alabama football team spent its first day in pads today, the third practice of the spring.

"There was a lot of good effort and our attitude was pretty good," said head coach Mike Shula. "Our execution wasn't very good at all. We were slow reacting, playing too high.

"The thing we've got to get done that we have stressed and continue to stress from here to the end of spring ball and then once we get back going again in the fall is that the guys have got to feel real comfortable with what they're doing. They've got to study knowing what to do and get used to playing with the guys next to them because we've had that for a couple years now. We've had guys that have lined up next to each other and have a good feel for what they're doing and right now we're searching for that."

The team will continue its spring workouts on Thursday beginning at 3:45, the first of three straight days of practice.
