The 2006 AT&T Cotton Bowl championship trophy will be formally presented to the Crimson Tide football team at halftime of Wednesday night’s Alabama-Auburn basketball game.
In addition, Tom Brown will present the 2005 Lott Trophy, symbolic of the nation’s top “IMPACT” player to Ryans along with a $25,000 check from the Lott Trophy Foundation to the University’s general scholarship fund.
Record-setting Tide quarterback Brodie Croyle is slated to receive the Cotton Bowl’s Offensive MVP trophy and consensus All-America linebacker DeMeco Ryans will receive the game’s Defensive MVP trophy.
Representing the Cotton Bowl will be 2006 Chairman Gayle Earles; 2007 Chairman Bruce Gadd; 2005 Chairman Fin Ewing; Alabama Team Host Tommy Bain; Cotton Bowl President Rick Baker and CB Vice President of Communications Charlie Fiss.
Alabama beat Texas Tech 13-10 in the Cotton Bowl, the Tide’s 53rd bowl game and 29th bowl victory, both of which are NCAA records. Croyle and Ryans were among the 14 Crimson Tide football players to earn their degrees prior to the Jan. 2, 2006 Cotton Bowl game.
