TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football team wrapped up its first week of practice in full pads at Drew-Thomas Field on Saturday.

The practice included increased contact in individual and team drills.  Alabama head coach Mike Shula said that the workout today was "one more step" toward full game conditions he is working towards.

"We're easing our way into it," Shula said ," but we're going to be into it a lot more from here on out."

"We had a few more people out here with the coaches' clinic and I think that made some of the guys more excited.  Toward the end of practiced I thought we settled into a nice rhythm and got a lot of things done."

Over 450 high school coaches participated in the weekend's clinic.

Shula said that Jeremy Clark and Mark Anderson have performed well the past two days and that Cornelius Wortham and Freddie Roach are both competing hard at middle linebacker.

The Crimson Tide is scheduled to practice on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday of next week.  The annual spring A-Day game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 20 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
