TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ---   Mike Price, head football coach at The University of Alabama, announced on Tuesday afternoon that Eric Price will join the Tide coaching staff. His first full day on the job will be Thursday. Eric, who recently worked as quarterback assistant with the New York Jets, will be the Tide's new offensive coordinator and receivers coach.

"I feel very fortunate to get a young coach with the experience of Eric's," said Mike Price.  "He already knows the offense we run and he will be adding many of the nuances that the Jets ran in their offense.  Our offensive staff is excited to learn the new aspects that Eric will bring."

Eric Price prepped at Ogden High in Utah while his father was the head coach at Weber State. He then was a quarterback at both Dixie Junior College (1986-87) and Weber State (1988-89), graduating in 1990 with a degree in physical education. He coached the wide receivers and tight ends at his alma mater in 1990, then spent one year at Hawaii (1991) and two seasons as a graduate assistant for Dennis Erickson at Miami (1992-93). He then coached two years at Cal Poly-SLO (1994-95) and two years at Northern Arizona (1996-97) before joining his father's staff at Washington State from 1998-2000. He became an offensive assistant for the Jets in 2001 when Paul Hackett became offensive coordinator and he has been instrumental in the development of Jets quarterback Chad Pennington.

"I am really excited to coach again with my father, especially at a prestigious school like Alabama," Eric Price said.  "It is an opportunity I just could not pass up and I jumped at the chance."
