COSTA MESA, Calif. - The No. 1-ranked Alabama football team continued preparations for No. 2 Texas in shells on Monday afternoon at the Costa Mesa High School Sports Complex. The Crimson Tide practiced for two hours in mid 70 degree weather.

"Practice went well," Alabama junior center William Vlachos said following Monday's practice. "We had to touch up a couple of things and I think we were able to do that. Everything is coming together day-by-day. We are starting to get a feel for what we expect Texas to do while focusing on what we are trying to do."

No. 1 Alabama (13-0, 8-0 SEC) and No. 2 Texas (13-0, 8-0 Big 12) will meet in the BCS National Championship Game on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. The game will be nationally televised by ABC Sports.

Last night the Crimson Tide participated in the annual Beef Bowl at Lawry's The Prime Rib. Tonight the Tide will head to the Irvine Improv Comedy Club.

"The (Lawry's) Beef Bowl was great," Vlachos said. "It was definitely more than I was expecting. We had a great time. The food was fabulous and the show was great. It was a first-class event all the way around last night."
