TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 2 Alabama football team dominated North Texas on both sides of the football  Saturday night en route to a 41-0 victory before 101,821 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide totaled 586 yards on offense as junior running back Trent Richardson and sophomore running back Eddie Lacy both notched new career-high rushing marks. Richardson finished the game with 167 yards on 11 carries and three touchdowns, while Lacy added 161 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns.

The Alabama defense held the Mean Green to just 91 total yards, including just 68 yards rushing. The Tide will host Arkansas next Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 (CST) and the game will be televised by CBS.

"It's obviously good to win," UA head coach Nick Saban said. "I think the goal of what we are trying to do is improve as a team.  You have to give North Texas credit. They did a nice job out there and played hard. We played pretty good on defense and got a chance to play a lot of players today. It was great to get a shutout. We ran the ball effectively and made some good plays running. We had two guys gain over 150 yards. I think that is pretty good."

Alabama opened the scoring with a 26-yard Jeremy Shelley field goal on its opening possession after an 11 play, 69-yard drive to take a 3-0 lead. Following a North Texas punt, Richardson would score the first of his three touchdowns on the day, barreling into the end zone from four yards out to push the margin to 10-0.

Alabama would strike quickly on its next possession, needing just two plays to cover 53 yards as Lacy scampered 43 yards for a touchdown to put Alabama up 17-0 at the outset of the second quarter. A 37-yard field goal from Shelley one possession later would give the Tide a 20-0 advantage and close out the scoring in the first half.

After blocking a North Texas field goal to start the second half, Richardson would add a pair of long touchdown runs, 58 yards and 71 yards respectively, to put Alabama up 34-0 before Lacy got in the action, adding a 67-yard run of his own to put the score at 41-0.

Alabama sophomore quarterback AJ McCarron finished the game 15-of-21 for 190 yards, spreading the ball around to nine different receivers. Kenny Bell and Brad Smelley each led the Tide with four receptions a piece.

Will Lowery and Mark Barron each made a team-high seven tackles while Courtney Upshaw finished with a game-high three tackles for a loss. Dont'a Hightower added two tackles for a loss while Nico Johnson and Xzavier Dickson each had one tackle for a loss. Robert Lester was credited with the blocked field goal in addition to adding two tackles on the day.

Alabama will host Arkansas next Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. (CST) and the game will be televised by CBS Sports.
