2006 (Junior): Played in 12 games with four starts at middle linebacker. He finished the season with 11 tackles, including seven solo stops, 1.5 tackles for a loss, one sack and one quarterback hurry. He had a tackle in eight of his 12 games. He recorded his first career sack at LSU when be brought down JaMarcus Russell for a 17-yard loss. He matched a career high with three tackles at Arkansas. He had two tackles and 0.5 tackles for a loss against Auburn. He tallied 181 snaps with a season-high 22 against Louisiana Monroe. He played 10 or more snaps in 11 of the 12 games. 2004 Academic All-SEC 2004 (Freshman): Matt saw special teams action in every game, getting 96 snaps on the season. He had a career-high 18 snaps in the Western Carolina game. He had 2 tackles on the season. 2003: Redshirted Prep: Collins was the only freshman on Clay-Chalkville's 1999 state championship team.
