It's hard to believe that I am writing the final blog of our 2013 European Tour. What an exciting trip and great learning experience for all of us. We left for Europe 10 days ago and there is no doubt that it created a lifetime of memories.
Our last day in Paris began with our fifth and final game when we played Rouen of the French Pro B Division. Our guys came out hard and competed throughout the contest, but just came up short in the end.
While the defeat was disappointing, the ultimate goal of this trip was to learn about the this year's men's basketball team - for the players and staff to understand the strengths, weaknesses, what needs to be improved and getting the younger players some experience against very good competition. In that sense, regardless of the record, the mission was certainly accomplished. We are certainly more of a "team" in every sense of the word after this experience.
Following the game, we took a bus tour of the city and finished the day with boat cruise down the Seine River. It was great to see the sights of Paris from a different perspective. We got back to the hotel around 11 p.m., finished packing and went to bed.
We woke up first thing on Sunday morning as we had to board the bus and depart for the airport at 5 a.m. Thus began our long trip back to the United States. It was strange texting our loved ones before we boarded our flight, as they were getting ready to go to bed on Saturday night.
We are all excited to get back home and get back in our "normal" schedule. Hopefully this blog gave you a behind the scenes glimpse during our European Trip. I hope you have enjoyed viewing it as I have enjoyed writing/recording it for you. ROLL TIDE!
