TUSCALOOSA – The University of Alabama men’s basketball team is ranked No. 18 in the nation in the preseason USA Today/ESPN Coaches Top 25. Alabama finished No. 17 in the final Coaches Top 25 last season after advancing to the NCAA Elite 8 and finishing the season with a 20-13 overall record.

The preseason Top 25 includes No. 1 Kansas, No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 4 Georgia Tech, No. 5 Illinois, No. 6 Syracuse, No. 7 Connecticut, No. 8 Oklahoma State, No. 9 Kentucky, No. 10 Michigan State, No. 11 Arizona, No. 12 Duke, No. 13 Louisville, No. 14 Mississippi State, No. 15 Texas, No. 16 Maryland, No. 17 Pittsburgh, No. 18 Alabama, No. 19 N.C. State, No. 20 Wisconsin, No. 21 Notre Dame, No. 22 Florida, No. 23 Memphis, No. 24 Washington and No. 25 Stanford.

Other teams receiving votes for Top 25 contention include Gonzaga, Cincinnati, Michigan, Providence, Oklahoma, Charlotte, UAB, UNLV, Utah, Southern Illinois, Texas Tech, Purdue, DePaul, Saint Joseph’s, Pepperdine, Toledo, UTEP, Vanderbilt and Florida State.
