The Crimson Tide basketball team spent Monday evening entertaining kids from the community, taking part in the University of Alabama’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee’s Halloween Extravaganza.
The players joined student-athletes from all of Alabama’s varsity sports at the Indoor Football Facility where each team set up a game area for kids. Hundreds of children of the University’s faculty and staff turned out. Each team came up with an event, and the basketball team’s representatives on the SAAC board, senior forward Evan Brock and sophomore All-Southeastern Conference point guard Ronald Steele, chose sack races as theirs. Halfway through, however, the team had to switch to Twister after their basketball-player-sized bodies kept busting through all of the Halloween decorated plastic garbage bags they were using to race against the kids.
Alabama’s basketball players will be in action on the court Thursday night when fans in the Tuscaloosa area get their only sneak preview of the 2005-06 version of the Crimson Tide. Alabama is hosting the Crimson and White Scrimmage in the back gym of Coleman Coliseum at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Admission to that event is free, and fans can stay afterwards to get autographs and take pictures with the players. Alabama’s official season opener is Tuesday, November 15 when Alabama plays host to Miami-Ohio at 7 p.m. CT in a Preseason NIT game. Season tickets are on sale now by calling (205) 348-BAMA.
