TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Throughout the preseason, RollTide.com will conduct a Q&A with a member of the Alabama men's basketball team. In this sixth installment, junior transfer Ricky Tarrant did a question and answer session from Coleman Coliseum on Oct. 30.
Tarrant transferred to Alabama from Tulane following the 2012-13 season. He is allowed to practice with the team, but cannot suit up for the Crimson Tide until the 2014-15 campaign.
During his two seasons with the Green Wave, Tarrant made quite a name for himself. The Pleasant Grove, Ala., native earned Conference USA Freshman of the Year and first team all-conference accolades during his rookie season, followed by second team all-conference and all-district honors last season. Tarrant finished with 1,013 points in two years at Tulane and boasted 51 double figure scoring games and 20 career 20-plus point games.
Tarrant is the son of Glenene and Ricky Sr., and has one sister, Aleah. He attended Pleasant Grove High School and finished runner-up for Mr. Basketball in Alabama in 2011 to UA teammate Levi Randolph.
