BIRMINGHAM – Southeastern Conference Basketball drew hundreds of members of the media to Birmingham Wednesday as the SEC held its annual SEC Basketball Media Days. The Crimson Tide was one of six teams featured on Wednesday afternoon as selected players and the head coaches of both the men’s and women’s teams held court. Wednesday’s sessions included Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ole Miss.
Representing the Alabama men’s basketball team was head coach Mark Gottfried, senior guard Earnest Shelton and junior forward Kennedy Winston. Both players are returning starters for the Tide, both coming off great seasons in 2004 when they helped lead Alabama to its first NCAA Elite 8 appearance. Shelton scored 20 or more points in 11 games last season and was just voted Preseason All-SEC by the league’s head coaches. Winston was 1st team All-SEC last season and a 1st team pick by the coaches this year.
SEC Media Day concludes on Thursday with Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Arkansas taking their turns in front of the media.
