TUSCALOOSA – Fans of the University of Alabama men’s basketball team get a rare treat this Halloween. Alabama is hosting a family and fan-friendly event, the Crimson and White game on Saturday, October 30 at 6 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum to celebrate the beginning of the 2004-05 basketball season.
No admission will be charged for this intra-squad game. The event is designed with Alabama’s fans in mind. Free team posters will be given away. After the game the players and coaches will sign autographs and fans who bring their cameras can get their photos taken with their favorite Alabama basketball players on the 2004-05 team. In fact, some fans may even want to come dressed as their favorite Alabama basketball player or coach.
Since the game is being played the night before Halloween, fans young and old are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, and there will be a costume contest at mid court at halftime. There will be both a kids and adults category, and the winners receive season tickets for all of Alabama’s home games this season. And a group picture of the contestants will be placed on Alabama’s website, www.rolltide.com. Kids in costume can come to Coleman Coliseum to Trick or Treat that night as well as the Crimson Tide’s Student Athlete Advisory Council will be giving out candy.
University of Alabama students are encouraged to sign up for “Mark’s Madness”, the team’s student support group at the game. Prizes, including a video game system and a television will be given away to some lucky members in attendance at the Crimson and White game.
