Tide Opens Basketball Practice on Saturday Morning

Day one of the 2003-04 basketball season begins Saturday at 10 a.m. for the University of Alabama men’s basketball team. That’s when head coach Mark Gottfried and the Crimson Tide will hold its first practice session in preparation for the season.

Fans will get a couple of chances for sneak peeks at the team. On Saturday, October 25 the team will hold its annual “Fan Jam” at Coleman Coliseum where the players having 3-point shooting contests and go through drills in the popular event. And from 12:45 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. the players will be on the Quad signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans.        

Alabama will play an intrasquad game, the Crimson and White game, on Saturday, November 1 at 6 p.m. and then will host an international team sponsored by Global Sports on Saturday, November 8. That game time is pending word on game time for the Alabama vs. Mississippi State football game.

The Tide officially opens its season in Madison Square Garden on Friday, November 14 against Pittsburgh in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Its home opener is Friday, November 21 at 7 p.m. against Louisiana Tech.
