2006-2007 (Freshman):

  • Academic All-SEC in 2007
  • Played in four games in 2006-07, averaging 1.0 points
  • Scored four points in five minutes in the Coppin State game, making two of two shots attempted
  • Had a rebound in that Coppin State game as well
  • Had one assist in the Alabama State game

2005-2006 (Freshman):

  • Redshirted, did not see varsity action


  • Averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game at Bishop Chatard High School in 2004 as a junior
  • Broke his wrist early in the season his senior year, ending his high school final season because of the injury
  • Helped lead Bishop Chatard to 3A state championship in 2003
  • 2003-04 Regional MVP (his junior season)
  • 2004 All-City
  • IBCA Top 100 Underclassmen
  • Indianapolis Star Rising Star of the Year
  • 2004-05 McDonald’s All-American nominee
  • Indiana East/West All-Star
  • IBCA Academic All-State
  • Also competed in track in high school and was Academic All-State in track


  • His brother, Dan Cage, was a senior guard on Vanderbilt’s 2007 basketball team and now plays in Germany; both wear jersey number 20
  • Is attending Alabama as a national merit scholar (a walk-on)

  • Has one older brother (Dan), two younger brothers (Ramiro and Alex Bastnagel), and two younger sisters (Brittany and Mia Bastnagel)
