TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The men's basketball team held its first official practice of the 2012-13 season on its practice court in Coleman Coliseum Friday evening.

Coming off its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2006 and its second straight 20-win season, the Crimson Tide will look to continue its aggressive, disruptive and disciplined style of play throughout the upcoming year.

Alabama, under fourth-year head coach Anthony Grant, begins its season on Friday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m. CT when the Tide hosts South Dakota State as part of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project.

Despite losing its leading scorer and rebounder from last year, the Tide returns eight players, including five that started 14 or more games in 2011-12.

Joining the returning players are two newcomers in redshirt freshman Retin Obasohan and true freshman Devonta Pollard. Obasohan, who is expected to provide additional depth at the point guard position, was a member of the Belgian Under-20 National Team. Pollard, is a five-star prospect according to Rivals.com and ranked as the seventh best small forward and 22nd best overall prospect in the nation.

Alabama will have four weeks of practice leading up to the season opener and will hold one exhibition game on Nov. 6, when the Tide takes on Stillman at 7 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum.

Season tickets and mini plan packages are currently on sale, while single game tickets will go on sale Oct. 29. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here or by calling the Alabama Ticket Office at 1-877-TIDETIX (843-3849).
