JaMychal Green helped USA Basketball recover from yesterday’s loss with 12 points in a 94-73 win over Romania at the World University Games on Sunday.
Green returned to the starting lineup for the contest and converted on 6-of-9 attempts from the field while pulling down seven rebounds in 16 minutes. The game was another strong performance from the University of Alabama senior-to-be who has averaged 12.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in the tournament. He has also converted on a team-high 68.8 percent of his shots from the field (33-of-48).
USA Basketball’s shooting improved after yesterday’s loss as the team converted on 49 percent of its attempts with Michigan State’s Draymond Green leading four players in double figures with 16 points. The USA jumped out to an early 12-0 lead thanks to scoring in transition and converting on open looks against the Romanians’ zone defense.
The win advances the USA to the 5th/6th place game of the 2011 World University Games where it will meet Germany on Monday at 7 a.m. CDT. Both the American and German squads bring 6-1 records into the contest.
