SHENZHEN, China -

University of Alabama rising senior JaMychal Green helped USA Basketball to a 108-67 win over Mexico in the opening round at the World University Games in Shenzhen, China.

Green was perfect from the field, converting on 3-of-3 shots, including a three-pointer, to finish with seven points, two rebounds and a block. He managed his scoring in just nine minutes of action due to racking up four fouls. Pittsburgh's Ashton Gibbs led the team with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting while Minnesota's Trevor Mbakwe had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The USA Basketball squad found itself down, 24-22, at the end of the first quarter but outscored Mexico, 65-30, over the final two quarters to cruise to the win in pool play. The team returns to action on Sunday against Hungary at 2:30 a.m. CDT.
